How does VAT work for a gents salon in the UAE?
The UAE charges VAT at 5% on most goods and services, including haircuts and retail products. Businesses above the registration threshold set by the Federal Tax Authority must register and file returns. This is general information; confirm your position with a UAE tax agent or the FTA.
UAE customers expect to see the price they pay. getbarberpos supports tax-inclusive pricing, so a menu price already includes VAT and the receipt shows the VAT portion separately. Our own plan prices are shown the same way, with VAT included.
If you have more than one salon, each location can carry its own tax settings and receipt layout, including your TRN on the receipt where you are registered.

How do UAE clients pay at a gents salon?
Cards and phones are standard: Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay and Google Pay. getbarberpos works with your card terminal or processor; we never process the payment ourselves.
Cash is still common, especially in Karama, Bur Dubai, Mussafah and Sharjah. Register sessions and the end-of-day report show exactly what should be in the drawer per shift.
Package deals (for example a monthly beard or grooming package) and gift cards can be handled through custom payment methods, so they show correctly in reports.

How are barbers usually paid in the UAE?
The usual deal in a UAE gents salon is a salary plus commission on services and products, often with accommodation and a visa provided by the salon. Chair rental exists but is less common than in the US.
getbarberpos tracks commission per service and per product for each barber, and the HRM basics cover attendance and leave. Salaries themselves are paid through your bank or exchange house under the Wage Protection System where it applies; this is general information, so confirm your obligations with MOHRE or your PRO.
Staff come from everywhere: Pakistan, India, Syria, Egypt, Turkey, the Philippines and more. Each barber can use the interface in English, Arabic or Urdu on the same account.
