Barber tip tracking for card tips, cash tips and payout night
getbarberpos handles barber tip tracking at the register. Clients pick a tip on the payment screen, cash tips get logged against the barber who did the cut, and every night or week you get a payout sheet per barber. The tip record stays in the system for reporting.

Why do tips cause more fights than prices?
When most tips come in on card, the money lands in the shop's account and the barber has to trust you to pay it out. If the payout is a number scribbled on a sticky note, every short week starts a conversation nobody wants to have.
Cash tips have the opposite problem. They go straight in a pocket or the barber's drawer, so the shop has no record at all. That's fine until someone needs proof of income, or a barber says a client tipped on card when they actually tipped cash.
Then there's split tickets. Two barbers worked on one client, or the cut was by one and the beard by another. Somebody has to decide who gets what, and the decision should be on the ticket, not in a memory.

How do tips get from the client to the barber's pocket?
At checkout, the client sees tip options you choose, like three percentages and a custom amount, on the counter tablet or the card terminal from your processor.
The tip is tied to the barber on the ticket. If two barbers worked on it, split the tip by amount or percentage before closing.
If the client hands over cash, the barber or front desk records it as a cash tip in a couple of taps, so it's on the record even though it never touches the drawer.
At close, or weekly, open the payout sheet. It lists each barber's card tips owed, cash tips already in hand, and the total.
When you pay a barber their card tips, mark the payout as done. The sheet keeps who was paid, how much and when.

FAQ · 8 questions
Tips per barber: questions owners ask
Q01Can clients add a tip on the screen when they pay?
Yes. The payment screen shows tip options you set, like three percentages and a custom amount. If you use a separate card terminal, its tip prompt depends on what your processor's terminal supports.
Q02How do I record cash tips that never go through the register?
The barber or front desk logs a cash tip against the ticket or the barber. It takes a couple of taps and keeps the record complete without changing the cash drawer total.
Q03Can a tip be split between two barbers?
Yes. Before closing the ticket, split the tip by amount or percentage between everyone who worked on the client. Each barber's share shows on their payout sheet.
Q04Can I pay tips out weekly instead of every night?
Yes. Run the payout sheet for any date range: one day, a week or a pay period. Mark it paid when you hand over the money.
Q05Can tips be worked out on the pre-tax price?
You choose whether tip percentages are based on the price before or after sales tax. Many US shops prefer before tax.
Q06Can a barber see their own tips without seeing everyone else's?
Yes. With the right staff permissions, a barber sees only their own tips and payouts. Owners and managers see everyone.
Q07Does getbarberpos take a cut of tips?
No. There's no fee on tips from us. Your card processor charges its normal rate on the card payment, tip included, as it would anywhere.
Q08Can I export a barber's tip history for their tax records?
Yes. The tip report exports to CSV by barber and date range. Barbers can use it as a record, but they should check tax treatment with their own accountant.
