#2 Product sales · the shelf pays too
A barbershop retail POS for the shelf by the mirror
getbarberpos works as a barbershop retail POS right at the chair. Scan a pomade or beard oil onto the same ticket as the cut, watch stock drop in real time, get a low-stock alert before the shelf is empty, and pay barbers commission on what they sell. Products also show in your auto-generated online store.

Why does the product shelf never make the money it should?
Most shops buy a case of pomade, put it on the shelf and forget it. Nobody knows how many are left until a client asks and there's none. Nobody knows which products actually sell, so the next order is a guess too.
Selling it is clumsy. The cut goes through one way, the product gets rung up separately or handed over for cash, and half the time it never gets recorded at all. That's lost stock with no sale attached.
Barbers sell more product when they get paid for it. If commission on retail is worked out by hand at the end of the month, it doesn't feel real to them, so they stop recommending things in the chair.

How does a product go from the delivery box to a client's bag?
Type them in, or import a CSV. Add variations like size or hold, a cost price, a sale price and a barcode. Print your own labels for items without one.
The barber scans the barcode with a scanner or the tablet camera, or taps the product, and it's added to the same ticket as the cut.
Every sale updates stock straight away. Returns and damaged items go back in or get written off with a reason.
Set a reorder point per product. When stock falls to it, the item shows on the low-stock list.
Create a purchase order from the low-stock list, send it to the supplier, and receive it into stock when the box arrives.
Set retail commission per product or per barber. It lands on the barber's commission report automatically.

FAQ · 8 questions
Product sales: questions owners ask
Q01Can a product and a haircut go on the same ticket?
Yes. Scan or tap the product onto the open ticket and the client pays once for everything. Commission and stock are worked out per line.
Q02Do I need a barcode scanner to sell products?
No. You can tap products on screen or use a tablet's camera to scan. A USB or Bluetooth scanner is faster if you sell a lot of retail.
Q03Can I print barcode labels for products that don't have one?
Yes. getbarberpos generates barcodes and prints labels on a label printer, which is handy for house-brand products or items you split from bulk.
Q04How do low-stock alerts work?
You set a reorder point for each product. When stock reaches it, the product appears on the low-stock list, which you can turn straight into a purchase order.
Q05Can I track products in different sizes or scents?
Yes. Add variations like size, scent or hold to one product. Each variation has its own stock, price and barcode.
Q06Can barbers earn commission on product sales?
Yes. Set retail commission as a percentage or fixed amount per product, per barber, or both. It shows on the commission report next to service commission.
Q07Do my products appear in the online store automatically?
Yes. Each product you save is added to your auto-generated online store with its price and photo. You can hide any product you don't want sold online.
Q08Can I import my product list from a spreadsheet?
Yes. Import a CSV with names, prices, cost, stock and barcodes. A shelf of a few dozen products usually goes in within minutes this way.
