Barbershop POS for Houston barbershops

Houston barbershops are spread across a huge metro and many of the barbers on the floor speak Spanish first. getbarberpos runs in English and Spanish on any tablet, tracks booth rent and tips per barber, and keeps a walk-in board for the floor, from $39 a month per shop.

Barbering in Houston

Houston has no single barbershop district. Shops sit in strip centers from Gulfton and Sharpstown out to Katy, Pasadena and the north side, and most clients drive in. That makes a reliable book matter: if a client sits on the freeway for forty minutes, they want their chair ready when they arrive.

A big share of Houston barbers are Mexican and Central American, and plenty of shops run in Spanish all day. A POS that only speaks English slows the floor down. getbarberpos ships with a Spanish interface, so each barber can use the language they are comfortable in on the same system.

Houston shops mix models freely. Some barbers rent, some work on commission, and family members help at the front on weekends. Heat in the summer and storm season can shut shops for a day or two, so being able to see the book and text clients about a closure from any phone matters.

Three things that matter for Houston shops

  1. #4

    Spanish on the floor

Switch the interface to Spanish for barbers who prefer it. Owners can keep English on the office laptop; both see the same data.

  2. #2

    Drive-time bookings

Clients coming from across the metro book ahead. The online booking page shows only open slots per barber, so nobody drives in for a chair that is taken.

  3. #0

    Texas licensing

In Texas, barbers and barbershops are licensed through the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. General information only: confirm current shop and renter rules with them.

Questions from Houston barbers

Q01Can my barbers use getbarberpos in Spanish?

Yes. Spanish is one of the shipped interface languages, along with English, Arabic and Urdu. Each user can work in their own language on the same shop account.

Q02Do receipts come out in Spanish too?

Receipt and invoice layouts can be set up with your own wording, including Spanish. You can also edit translations if you want words that match how your shop talks.

Q03What does a Houston shop with five barbers pay?

The Full Shop plan is $39 a month for up to 10 chairs, not per barber. Sales tax is added where it applies, and card fees go to your own processor.

Q04I have two shops on opposite sides of town. Is that one account?

Yes. The Multi-Shop plan is $89 a month with three locations included and reports across all shops. Each shop keeps its own prices and staff.

Q05Can I text clients if we close for a storm?

You can see the day's book from any phone and contact clients through your messaging provider by SMS, WhatsApp or email. getbarberpos does not include free SMS sending.

Q06Does getbarberpos work offline if the internet drops?

No. It runs in the browser and needs a connection. Many shops keep a phone hotspot as a backup for the front tablet.

Q07How do I track booth rent and commission barbers in the same shop?

Renters go on the booth rent ledger with due dates and paid or late status. Commission barbers get commission rules per service and per product. Both show up on the end-of-day report.

Q08Are haircuts taxed in Texas?

Treatment of personal services varies by state, and retail products are usually taxed. This is general information; confirm with your accountant or the Texas Comptroller, then set tax per item in getbarberpos.
